Precious Moments

Infant Program | Ages 6 Weeks–23 Months

The Precious Moments classroom is our infant program, designed to provide a safe, nurturing, and loving environment for infants ages six weeks through 23 months. We offer care that supports each child’s individual needs, developmental milestones, and daily routines while building a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Our program focuses on creating meaningful relationships between children and caregivers through responsive, attentive, and individualized care.

Classroom Capacity and Staffing

  • Age Group: 6 weeks–23 months

  • Staff-to-Child Ratio: 1:3

    • Maximum Capacity: 6 children

  • Program Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM–6:30 PM

  • Care Options: Full-time based on availability and enrollment offerings

Our Precious Moments classroom is designed to support the cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language development of every infant. We understand that infants learn through loving interactions, sensory exploration, movement, repetition, and responsive caregiving. Teachers provide individualized attention and developmentally appropriate experiences that encourage curiosity, trust, and early learning.

Daily activities may include tummy time, sensory exploration, music and movement, interactive storytime, fingerplays, age-appropriate art experiences, outdoor exploration when appropriate, and opportunities to practice emerging motor skills. Teachers encourage early communication through talking, singing, reading, and responding to each child’s sounds, gestures, and expressions.

We recognize the importance of consistent routines and work in partnership with families to support each child’s feeding schedule, diapering needs, sleep patterns, comfort preferences, and developmental progress. Our teachers maintain open communication with families regarding daily activities, milestones, and individual needs.

As infants grow and develop, learning experiences are adjusted to support emerging abilities, including reaching, grasping, rolling, sitting, crawling, standing, walking, early language, and social interaction. Activities are individualized to each child’s developmental stage rather than based solely on age.

Precious Moments is committed to providing a warm, responsive, and developmentally appropriate environment where every infant feels safe, loved, valued, and encouraged to explore the world around them. Through strong family partnerships and attentive caregiving, we establish the foundation for healthy development, secure relationships, and a positive transition into the toddler program.

As children begin their early preschool journey, they participate in structured and play-based learning experiences that help prepare them for future educational success. Our goal is to support the development of each child’s cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language skills through meaningful daily activities.

Learning experiences include daily literature and story time, early handwriting and pre-writing activities, circle time, creative art, hands-on exploration, social interactions, active play, and teacher-guided lesson plans. Children are encouraged to explore their surroundings, develop problem-solving skills, build positive relationships, and practice age-appropriate self-help skills.

Through a balance of teacher-directed instruction and child-led exploration, Divine Explorers promotes confidence, independence, creativity, and foundational skills that prepare children for the next stage of their educational journey.

Garden of Butterflies

Our program utilizes the Funshine curriculum, supplemented with additional learning experiences aligned with the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) early childhood learning guidelines. These experiences include sight-word recognition, early literacy, letter and sound recognition, early mathematics, handwriting, vocabulary development, literature, problem-solving, and school-readiness activities.

Our objective is to foster continued growth across all developmental areas while helping children become confident, independent, and enthusiastic learners. Through daily lesson plans, circle time, reading activities, creative art, hands-on learning, group discussions, and purposeful play, children develop foundational academic skills while learning to cooperate, communicate, share, and resolve conflicts appropriately.

We use a balanced, child-centered and teacher-guided approach to learning. Teachers provide intentional instruction and learning opportunities while also encouraging children to follow their interests, ask questions, explore new ideas, and learn through discovery.

The Garden of Butterflies classroom is committed to helping each child build the confidence, knowledge, independence, and essential life skills needed to transition successfully into kindergarten and beyond.
